Liverpool, nicknamed the "Reds," lost 2-3 to Fenerbahce in the fourth round of the Champions League, despite goals from Tre Nione and Isak. In an interview, Isak stated that he felt the team didn't capitalize on their lead well enough and needed to rediscover their winning form.
In the 25th minute, Szoboszlai's cross was cleared, and Tre Nionni followed up with a powerful shot that found the back of the net, giving Liverpool a 1-0 lead. In the 29th minute, Greenwood took a free kick, his shot hitting the wall and bouncing into the net to level the score at 1-1 for Fenerbahce.
In the 69th minute of the second half, Gakopo chipped a pass from the left wing into the penalty area, where Isak headed the ball into the net, giving Liverpool a 2-1 lead again. In the 73rd minute, Kante chipped a pass into the penalty area, and Gakopo made a mistake while clearing the ball, allowing Archie Brown to tap it into the empty net, leveling the score at 2-2 for Fenerbahce.
In the 79th minute, Archie Brown crossed from the right wing, and Vedat Muriqui headed the ball into the net, giving Fenerbahce a 3-2 lead over Liverpool. Ultimately, Liverpool suffered a 2-3 defeat away to Fenerbahce.
Liverpool striker Isak said: "Playing here is never easy, but I think we could have gotten a better result in this game. We took the lead twice but ultimately lost, which was not a good performance and we are very disappointed with it."
"The atmosphere here is very intense, and playing away is naturally very difficult. Therefore, the only way to cool down the opposing fans is to score a goal. Unfortunately, we conceded a goal very quickly after scoring, and we should have made better use of our lead, which is exactly what we lacked."
It's worth mentioning that this was also Isak's first Champions League goal in his Liverpool career.
Isak said, "I was really happy at the time, and I was hoping that the goal would bring a better start. It's certainly great to score, but the team lost the game, which diminished the joy of the goal somewhat."
“I think we’ve put ourselves in a good position, so even if we lose this game, it won’t make things a mess. We just need to rediscover our winning form. If we can win the next game, we’ll be back in a very favorable position.”
