Suns end losing streak; Jordan Ott: Defense must be the foundation of the team.

In another NBA regular season game of the 2026/27 season, the Phoenix Suns defeated the Orlando Magic 117-104, ending their four-game losing streak, thanks to contributions from Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, and Miles Bridges. Jordan Ott stated that defense must be the foundation of the team, and believes that as long as the defense is solid, the offensive performance will improve accordingly.

According to the data, Devin Booker scored 30 points and 8 assists for the Phoenix Suns, Dillon Brooks scored 24 points and 1 assist, while Miles Bridges contributed 18 points and 5 assists for the Phoenix Suns in this game.

Phoenix Suns head coach Jordan Ott stated, "Our defensive intensity was good, with 14 steals as a team. The key is how we limit the ball-handling penetration of top teams. I think we did a lot better in limiting their ball-handling and successfully prevented them from easily driving to the basket. This reduced the number of times we were forced to rotate on defense and put ourselves in a better position on defensive rebounds."

"We certainly still have some areas that need improvement, but this is a step in the right direction. Everyone can keep talking about the tactical process, and we believe the team still needs to take some steps to get everything really on track. Of course, we want to win, and our goal is always to win the game."

Jordan Ott emphasized, "Defense must be the foundation of the team. We know that our defense helped the team a lot last season. We also know that the team doesn't have a height advantage at every position, so we must limit the opponent's ball-handling offense and protect the rebounds. These are two key points that we will repeatedly emphasize throughout the season."

"When we can get off the fast break or grab a defensive rebound, the passing will naturally be smoother, and we know that. Although the team's defense has not been ideal so far, the offense has actually been pretty good. As long as we can successfully limit the opponent on defense, the offense will be even better."

Regarding the rotation of centers, Jordan Ott said, "We've just made some adjustments, hoping to find a way to keep the center position performing well for all 48 minutes by making changes. I think the lineup has accepted this arrangement very well, and we will continue to try until we find the right way."

"The team's fighting spirit is excellent. We have many new faces, but this is a brand new season. The relationships between players need to be strengthened, and on-field communication needs to be continuously improved."
