Chelsea are about to play Sunderland away, and Alonso reports on team injuries.

Chelsea will travel to Sunderland this weekend for an away game. At the pre-match press conference, manager Xabi Alonso reported on key injuries within the team.

According to an interview with Alonso, a decision on whether goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and midfielder Moises Caicedo will play will be made after training on Saturday, while it was confirmed that three other key players will be absent.

After defeating Manchester United at home last round, Chelsea will travel to the Stadium of Light this round to challenge Sunderland, who have only won one of their nine games this season. Regarding goalkeeper Martinez, who recently underwent jaw surgery, Alonso revealed that he has resumed full training wearing a protective helmet, but the starting lineup still needs to be considered.

Alonso said: "We have one last training session before Sunday's game, at which time we will assess whether he is fit to play. He is in good training condition. Decisions for each position are difficult, and Martinez has put in a lot of effort to return as soon as possible, and his progress is faster than expected. We will do a final check on Saturday and determine the goalkeeper on Sunday."

Regarding Caicedo's recent calf discomfort, Alonso added: "He had some minor issues after the last match, and we will conduct a full re-examination on Saturday. Moises is one of the players who needs to be evaluated. In addition to his calf, he also has other physical discomfort."

In addition, Joreël Jato, Maxence Lacroix and João Pedro will definitely miss this weekend's match, and their recovery progress will be assessed during the international break.

When discussing Harto, Alonso stated frankly: "He is not yet ready to play and will need several more weeks. Perhaps it will be after the international break, or even longer. I will provide more detailed updates on his injury when the two-week break ends and we prepare for the Leeds United match."
