The quarterfinals of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship knockout stage featured a clash between two strong teams from the Chinese and Korean regions. LPL powerhouse Bilibili Gaming (BLG) displayed overwhelming dominance, sweeping LCK's fourth seed Dplus KIA (DK) 3-0 in a best-of-five series, securing the third semifinal spot.
After this match, BLG not only successfully advanced to the semifinals, securing at least $400,000 in prize money, but also announced the team's triumphant return to the international stage. Following their disappointment at missing the World Championship last year, this marks BLG's return to the semifinals after two years, following their runner-up finish at the 2024 World Championship.
Next, BLG will face the winner of the final quarterfinal match in the semifinals, between European powerhouse Karmine Corp and their arch-rival T1. It's worth noting that T1 defeated BLG in the 2024 World Championship finals; a rematch between the two teams would undoubtedly be a highly anticipated revenge battle.
Despite their defeat, DK finished their journey at the World Championship as one of the top eight teams (5th-8th place), taking home a prize of $300,000. Although their exit was disappointing, this was DK's best result at the World Championship in the past four years.
After finishing tied for 5th-8th in 2022, DK failed to advance beyond the top 16 (9th-11th place) in both 2023 and 2024, and even failed to qualify last year. Facing the red-hot BLG, this veteran Korean team ultimately could not go any further.
