Koopmenas is looking forward to facing his younger brother on the court.

The fourth round of the 2026/27 UEFA Europa League season will feature a key match, with Juventus traveling to face AZ Alkmaar. Juventus midfielder Per Kupmenas, in an interview, stated that he is very much looking forward to playing against his younger brother, Per Kupmenas.

In the last round of the Europa League, Juventus drew 2-2 with Rennes after goals from Celiac and Walter Madd. Juventus currently sits in 7th place in the standings with 7 points. In addition, in the earlier Serie A match, Juventus defeated Napoli 2-0 thanks to goals from Alaibegovic and Jeremy Boga.

It's worth mentioning that Kupmenas played for AZ Alkmaar during his professional career, and his younger brother, Per Kupmenas, who plays as a midfielder, also plays for AZ Alkmaar.

"It's really special for me to play against my brother Per. We used to play together a lot when we were kids and we've faced each other in two friendlies, but tomorrow's game will be different because it's a real match. It'll definitely be exciting, especially if we win," said 28-year-old Koopmenas.

"Per Kupmenas is a very competitive person, but no matter what, he will always be my younger brother. As for who has a better understanding of tactics between us? I can't say. He was definitely better than me in school, and as for the competition on the field, we'll find out tomorrow."

Koopmenas shared, “This will be a special day for our family. My mom isn’t as nervous as my dad and grandma. She can’t wait to watch the game and even predicts the score will be 2-2. I know AZ Alkmaar very well and have already explained to my teammates that we are facing a team that always takes the initiative to attack.”

“They press high up the pitch from the start of the game and show great intensity in every attack and defense. This club has always adhered to a distinct football philosophy that emphasizes dynamism and quality play. We must maintain possession even when under pressure from the opponent, so we must be extra careful.”

In addition, Kupmenas said, "As for myself, I have played in different positions throughout my career. I can also play defensively, but my primary role is still midfield, and Spalletti has made that clear to me. But I am ready to play any position whenever the manager needs me."

“Per Koopmenas and I have also co-authored a children’s book about our growing up, including our experiences in youth training and the various fun things we did together as children. We hope to share these memories with young readers, and the book is expected to be published next week.”
